Google MapUp had started from Rongpur Bangladesh

    Last 23rd November, Friday with a fascinating program, the official first day of Google MapUp was held in Rongpur. This is the first time that any program of Google MapUp had been held in Bangladesh. The analysts are thinking it as a milestone to form Digital Bangladesh.
     Google Maps is high technological free service. In developed countries it is used in many kinds of services like traffic control, news presentation, planning for the city etc. By Google Maps digital maps are transferred which can be used in mobile, PC or location based machineries. Traveling in unknown areas, searching for the nearest ATM booth, restaurant, petrol pump Google Maps is being used and it has become popular among the young generations.     Google Maps is a public map. Its database is created on the basis of the information given by the users. Anyone can add his home, road, business place in the Google Maps. For adding information in the Google Maps, there is a tool named Google Map Maker. Google Maps and Google Map Maker are the special branches of Google Earth.     MapUp is a program where it is learnt how to use Map Maker tool. Also the recent mappers include the information in the Google Map, making it better. It is an official program of Google.
     In Bangladesh, Rongpur is the place where the first official MapUp program is held. The first invitation was given in the Techtunes to attend in the program. From about 500 requests, 60 were invited in the program after examined. The invitation letter was sent to their addresses by post. The internet expenses of the arrived people were taken by Google. Also there were T-shirts and certificates for them from Google. The representative of Google at the program was Md. Tanzimul Islam Tanjil, Google Mapmaker Bangladesh Regional Expert Reviewer. Others those were present at the program are Google Mapmakers Country Advocate Altaf Uz Zaman, RER Hasan Shahed, Arman Hussain, Tafsirul Alam and Avijit Ray. Dr. A K M Faridul Islam, Dean, Faculty of Science & Technology, Begum Rokeya University was present along with the students of Begum Rokeya University and Haji Danesh University of Science & Technology. Assistant Register was Md. Aminul Islam and S M Abu Huraira, Extra District Magistrate of Kurigram.
     As there is no government allowed map in Bangladesh, we are dependent on Google Maps more. If by editing your place is added in Google, then you can use it in government-non-government works. Also in near future, Google Street View and Navigation Services are going to be introduced in Bangladesh. It will be helpful for the drivers and the technology businessmen. In the flood or natural calamities problems, Google Maps can be used in Bangladesh like the developed world.
     Mapping Bangladesh Team is working behind the scene to increase the services and value of Google Map in Bangladesh. They do video conference at least once in a month, regarding the problems and prospects of Google Map in Bangladesh. Also this team keeps connection with Google regularly for increasing the services.
